How far would you go for Angelato?

We got this picture and note in the mail this week. At first glance, we think,
Great! Here's a Red Sox fan supporting the good guys from the desert.
It may not guarantee us a world series, but it can't hurt.
Then we read the back of the picture

Mark Heley, formerly of Belmont MA. Now living in Mesa AZ.
Enjoying Angelato's Il Classico in "the valley of the sun"
How our sandwich travelled so far, we'll never know - but thanks, Mark, for thinking of us!

Visit KnowFat Bedford

We've got another wholesale location! KnowFat Lifestyle Grill in Bedford is now carrying Angelato, in single servings. Visit them at 374 Great Road in Bedford. This is also the first location to carry a branded freezer and to display our new logo. Check it out.

Here's Angelo on his way to Bedford to deliver their freezer.

a new delivery route...?

This was probably a one time thing. Cassie climbed Mt. Monadnock on Friday with the kids from her school. I couldn't send her up with stale peanut butter and jelly or trail mix; as she's been spoiled rotten on the food from our shop. She trekked up the mountain with special ordered Angelato sandwiches for the faculty chaperones (these guys don't really know how to rough it!). An 80 degree day in September and great scenic views might be just the motivation we need to figure out how to get gelato up on the mountain top. Stay tuned...

Angelato goes to Concord

We were so pleased to visit our newest customer this week. Farfalle Italian Market opened its doors in Concord this June, and they've added your favorite gelato to their menu offerings. Check them out at www.farfalleitalianmarket.com

They've got a great selection of Italian wines as well as fine grocery items and prepared foods.

Cinammmmmmmmmmon!

Our friend Kristin lives in Barcelona and visited us this summer. Of course this brought back memories of the European lifestyle and reminded us why we fell in love with gelato in the first place. Kristin said her current favorite flavor is cinnamon; we had to try it!

This morning, Angelo was up with the sun and raced to the shop before it opened. With a gourmet spice in hand, he set to create this continent's finest cinnamon flavored gelato. By noon, he had perfected the recipe and brought it home. It was delicious!! We've added it to the fall lineup and hope you'll stop by to give it a taste.

(editor's note: I went for the trifecta -three scoops of gelato: cinnamon, vanilla, and chocolate. Need I say more?)

It's tailgate time!

We kicked off our Labor Day Weekend with some catering orders that reminded us just how much fun fall in New England can be. Two separate BC tailgates were well stocked with Angelato's finest sandwiches, sure to please the crowd. If you're planning any tailgates this fall, give us a call and we'll put together an order for you. We can do sandwiches, drinks, even gelato for the road. Go Eagles!

Where to find our gelato?

Nothing beats a stroll down the block for gelato on a hot summer's night. Did you know that you can find our delicious gelato well beyond our shop at 374 Trapelo Road? Below is a list of some of our wholesale customers, check us out!

One of our favorite spots to deliver gelato is a bit off the beaten path. Sandy Island Camp is a family camp, run by the Boston YMCA, on Lake Winnipesaukee. I met my wife there in 1981 and have been going back ever since. This summer, they are featuring our Tiramisu gelato on the menu for Italian night, and single serving cups are for sale in the camp store. Sandy Island campers from the Boston areas are sure to be hooked!

Scoop for the Cure!

This summer, my wife and her mother decided to join 1900 other women in the Boston Breast Cancer 3 Day. Each participant had to raise $2200 in order to participate in this walk. Over the course of three days, they walked 60 miles and raised over $5 million collectively for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Angelato was pleased to be able to support their efforts: during their months of training, all proceeds from our Strawberry sorbetto were given to the cause.

This picture was taken at around mile 50; my dog Scoop and I went out to cheer on the walkers. To learn more about this event, visit http://www.the3day.org/

What have we been doing all summer?

There is never a dull moment at Angelato. We've been out on the road working with wholesale customers, adding more sites to our roster, and perfecting our delivery system.

Meet Scoop!

If you've been around the store at lunchtime this summer, you've met one of our most loyal customers. Scoop Firenze is my 8 month old boxer and he's very friendly. He enjoys his lunch (only water is on his menu!) while sitting on the bench outside.

Scoop has also enjoyed the delivery route this summer, especially the early morning trips to the Cape.

Fox 25 Zip Trips to Belmont

Early this summer, Fox News featured Belmont for one of their Friday morning broadcasts. We had such fun meeting the TV personalities and crew; and were lucky enough to be one of three Belmont eateries featured on air. Click here to see all that Belmont has to offer, or here to see our personal interview with VB.

Introduction

Who on earth wants to read a blog about a sandwich shop?

This was my response to the countless friends and customers who suggested that we start blogging. I've never even read a blog! But - as happens so often at our store - ask, and you shall receive.
We at Angelato see ourselves as so much more than a sandwich shop; as our business expands and our community roots grow stronger. So, if you want to read about life behind the counter, this is the place for you.
